An official announcement was released on the website of City of Heros showing that NC Soft NorCal was renamed Paragon Studios on April 14, 2009.

Paragon Studios is NCsoft's North California studio, also referred to as Mountain View and NCNC/NC². Previously named NorCal Studios, Paragon Studios formed from NCsoft purchasing Cryptic's half of the City of Franchises "Intellectual Property". Along with this, most of the current dev population of the game moved over to the new studio (15 miles from Cryptic Studio). They completed moving to the new studio on December 18, 2007. They adopted the Paragon Studios name on April 14, 2009.
